Description
Of all the shots you can get of a Humpback Whale the shot of a tender mother caring for her calf is possibly the most desired. Here, a young French lady maintains her composure, breathes out slowly and releases the shutter capturing just such a magic moment with over fifty tonnes of Humpback ascending just meters ahead. It took patience and a great degree of trust from both the whales and the photographer, plus and a steady hand and nerves to match in order to swim away with the shot she has wanted for so long. For me this image embodies the spirit of the underwater photographer.
